A Message from Pamela

Ever since my mom passed from stomach cancer, I wanted to do something to help others here in the Bahamas and around the world who were affected by cancer in the form of sharing positive messages and recommending complimentary holistic health alternative solutions.  I’ve shared for more than 10 years with family and friends my love for aromatherapy and the benefits of using aromatherapy as a preventative measure and an aid to those convalescing at home or in a facility.  The means for getting this message to the masses was limited.  Now I strongly feel since I have been introduced to Periscope this is possible.

Now it’s time for me to step and trust that I will be divinely supported as I transition into this new phase of my life and career.

You see this is now my main focus. I am not longer employed in the corporate world. I am now available for one on one aromatherapy consultations, speaking engagements about the benefits of aromatherapy, daily information sharing on Periscope and essential oil sales online.

To be totally honest, I’ve been trying to support this cause on my own but for the tech and data bandwidth needed and upgrades to my website, I need assistance.  In my effort to  Periscope better it is not possible without your support. There were days when doubt and fear set in.  I began to wonder if I would have enough money to support this effort.  Not anymore.

Divine intervention happened, knowledge and resources began to be made available to me by fellow Periscopers.  Then I realized it’s time for me to fully commit and become the absolute best Periscoper I can be in the field of Aromatherapy, Health and Wellness.

I would like to get a better phone and whatever tech gear I need so that I can live stream from the essential oil producers farms and distillers locations around the globe in search of the best quality essential oils for health, wellness and relaxation.   If you’d like to help support me on this journey, you are welcome to contribute to Oh! Natural Aromatherapy.

Diffusers vs Humidifiers Benefits

Prior to commencing my aromatherapy studies I never realized the many varieties of diffusers or the difference between a diffuser and a humidifier. The Mirriam Webster Dictionary defines humidifier as a machine that adds moisture to a room.  Though they are similar a humidifier there are many differences. However both are beneficial to  maintaining good health and wellness in 2016 and beyond.

Electric Diffusers

Essential Oil Reed Diffusers

Essential Oil Reed Diffusers

The Diffuser – they come in a variety of forms.  There are reed diffusers, electric and ceramic diffusers.  My all time favorite diffuser has been of the ceramic nature.  Simply because they are usually handmade, they come in a variety of styles and colors and can be consider little piece of art to add to a decor. They are found in a large variety of stores making them great gift ideas.   The reed diffusers make great additions to the decor of any home or office and they smell wonderful in any space. These too can be found in an assortment of styles, sizes and scent.  Click here to find a large variety of diffusers in one place. http://bit.ly/1muWH3I

Humidifiers are awesome products to add moisture to the environment. I recall living in Chicago in the brutal winter weather, while indoor the thermostats were all turned up and the windows were usually closed and the area was dry. The best way I found to combat the treat of getting colds and infections, and combat dry air in my environment was to us a humidifier.  Humidifiers can be found for warm and cold mist form. Click here to view humidifiers.  Be sure to investigate further to find the best one for you and your environment.  Here are seven (7) reasons to use a humidifier:

  1. Soothe Dry Skin – especially in the harsh winter weather.
  2. Faster Healing Process – especially for persons who suffer from allergies. The humidifier is the only thing that relieves my niece when her allergies act up.
  3. Prevent Noise Bleeds – adding moisture to the air helped my little brother. Adding moisture to the air controlled and eventually stopped his nose bleeds.
  4. Relieves Sinusitis – experts in the field have confirmed humidifiers are extremely good for persons suffering from congestion and sinusitis.
  5. Controls Static Electricity – during my years living in Chicago I recall suffering that jarring jolt of static electricity when touching door nobs. A humidifier lessened this potential during those harsh winter months. Don’t get me wrong I loved those winter months.
  6. Reduce Snoring –  It is said that low moisture levels in your nose and soft palate can increase snoring. It is recommended that you drink lots of water and add a humidifier in your bedroom to reduce or prevent snoring.
  7. Indoor Plant Hydration – Low humidity can cause the indoor plant leaves to turn brown and die. Many of this plants come from tropical climates with high humidity.  Most noticeable when a humidifier is added to the environments these indoor plants thrive.

Don’t get me wrong there are some cautions you should note when using diffusers and humidifiers.  When using these items they should be monitored.  Any where a ceramic diffusers and tea light candles are being used please keep out of reach of children.  Also when adding humidifier bare in mind that too much moisture can promote the  growth of organisms.  I must caution you to monitor your moisture levels.  Safety first in all instances.

Affordable Aromatherapy Courses

To learn to use proper aromatherapy treatments it is imperative that you find yourself an affordable aromatherapy course. Many people on-line today are offering aromatherapy treatments that have known safety issues and can actually end up hurting your loved ones if you follow their aromatherapy treatment instructions.

What are some of the things you need to watch out for?

  • People who take weekend workshops or train via their upline in an multi-level marketing company are not properly prepared to be teaching aromatherapy treatments safely and effectively.
  • People who call themselves aromatherapists and refuse to dilute Essential Oils before putting on the clients skin in an aromatherapy treatment should not be doing this.
  • People who use undiluted essential oils on babies should be reported immediately to health professionals.

Many people claim that they have aromatherapy training when in fact they have not even taken a proper aromatherapy course prior to giving aromatherapy treatments. Many people are self taught or taught by their managers in a company that sells essential oils, but that is not enough to start using aromatherapy treatments on the public.

Although it is true that their is no governing body set up by the government to regulate Aromatherapy practitioners there are organizations which keep watch over us to make sure that we are trained properly before we offer aromatherapy treatments.

The only way to train properly is to take an aromatherapy course. I know most aromatherapy courses are quite expensive and beyond the scope of spending budget of a lot of people but there are affordable aromatherapy courses around if you just look more closely.

Be sure that if you do find an affordable aromatherapy course that it is a good one. Find out what you will be learning in the aromatherapy course before you sign on the dotted line, so to speak.  Make sure that you will receive some type of aromatherapy diploma that can further you along the road in your aromatherapy journey.

Aromatherapy courses usually come in two parts: Level 1 and Level II   Some people refer to their aromatherapy courses as Aromatherapy 101 and Aromatherapy 102. There are guidelines that are set up by the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy which clearly states what should be included in any decent, recognizable Aromatherapy Course.  Click here for an approved Aromatherapy Certification.

These are not little 6 Week Aromatherapy Courses or Weekend Aromatherapy Courses. No, you will need to learn much more than what the little courses offer if you wish to give safe and beneficial Aromatherapy Treatments.

Don’t be dismayed, now that you know that you need 2 Aromatherapy Courses. Perhaps you can only take a Level 1 Aromatherapy Course for now. Do it!  Take the Aromatherapy II course a little down the road when you get a bit more money.

The important thing is that you learn to use Aromatherapy safely and effectively but at an affordable price so that you can use aromatherapy treatments that will benefit and not unintentionally harm those you love.

Today as I reflected on my new knowledge about Camphor Essential Oil I was motivated to share this knowledge with the world. Aromatherapy Treats Anxiety & Depression

My heart aches for persons who are experiencing insomnia, anxiety and depression and I would like to share what has worked for me in terms of personal care and at home treatments.

The solution for me has been aromatherapy and I have personally proven this on more than one occasion. The most memorable one was in 2011 following receiving the news that my nephew had committed suicide. I was alone when I received the news and immediately I went into a state of shock and a state of extreme anxiety coupled with uncontrollable crying and heart palpitations.

The solution that work for me came from divine intervention, my knowledge of nursing that came from my mother, and my years of studying Aromatherapy and Essential Oils.  Immediately when I began to hyperventilate and experience an extreme headache.  It was at this point I reached for a peppermint & eucalyptus blend and began to inhale the aroma. It took sometime but I was able to regain my composure and relax. In time, the anxiety subsided, the cry slowed and the headache eased.   It didn’t go immediately it took talking to a counselor to help me get through this point in my life. My heart still aches on occasion but I refuse to allow anxiety and depression get a hold of me.

There was something else that stood about this incident now that its in my past.  In the months leading up to my nephews suicide.  There was a strong need to reach out to him. It was as if every moment I sat alone there was someone telling me, “to call him, check on him”. But we never connect in a two months leading up to his death.  He lived on another island and I tried everything in my power to reach him but I never did.  He was a fisherman and a diver and I told one of the best. Because of this experience and the fact that I was not able to help him.  I know that I can help someone out there.

I am willing to talk with others who suffer anxiety and depression. I’m also willing to share my aromatherapy solutions that have worked for me and others. I will offer Free 30 Consultations to anyone who just need to talk on my website.

If you or someone you know is experiencing anxiety or depression please share this blog with them.  On Saturday, September 5th, 2015 I will be hosting my first live Introduction to Aromatherapy Webinar.  There I will share five (5) recipes for blending essential oils for such ailments as anxiety and depression. Visit my Facebook Page for my Introduction to Aromatherapy Event details http://www.facebook.com/ohnaturalaromatherapy

Then  starting next week I will be doing a weekly Periscopes about Aromatherapy in the treatment of problems such as anxiety, depression and stress. Find me on Periscope and Twitter @OhNaturalAroma

I will be looking forward to sharing with you.  Keep the FAITH. #aromatherapy #ohnatural

Aromatherapy has long been apart of my life and it is my desire to share my knowledge and experience with all who are willing to learn. The dream is to build a thriving holistic heath business in that would encourage person to take responsibility for their health.  Only a few have pursued this discipline here in the Bahamas. Hence my heighten desire to pursue my goal of becoming a clinical aromatherapist. Initially, i shared my love for aromatherapy with my family and friends.  After seeing and experiencing the wonders of essential oils with relieving pain, stress and anxiety and insomnia among this group I wanted to share it with others.

One experience that confirmed my believe in essential oils happened in 2009.  I was alone when i received the news that my nephew had committed suicide. It was devastating and I could not control my emotions. I cried for hours, then I began hyperventilating.  I didn’t know what to do to catch my breath. Then I remembered the powers of my essential oils to calm and sooth the mind, body and soul.  There was a blend I had made a few day prior sitting on the dresser.  I reached for it and began tho breath in the scent. It did just as was expected.  It calmed my soul. I was able to relax and sit still. Still unable to sleep I held the contain close to my chest and continue to breath in the aroma. I watched the sunrise but I was relaxed and the anxiety had subsided. I was and will be forever grateful for the discover of essential oils and their healing properties.

Aromatherapy has been referred to as the fragrant pharmacy.  It is the use of essential oils to heal the mind, body and soul.  The benefits and method of applications for aromatherapy are numerous.  It has been proven that aromatherapy is an aid in individuals good health, well-being and relaxation practices.  The individual choosing to use aromatherapy takes responsibility for his or her own health care with the emphasis on prevention.

Essential oils and base oils are used together to achieve the desired effects.  It is not recommended that essential oils be used in their purest form directly on the skin or ingested.  When the essential oil is diluted with a carrier or base oil it has proven to work in harmony with the human body, reducing the risk of any adverse reactions.  These essential oils are potent and volatile which means they evaporate when they come into contact with air.

Essential oils can be applied by inhalation (diffusing or a room spray), on the skin in a body massage or a bath.
